Each state’s rule is taken from its statute or Secretary of State form. Where we are not sure, we say to check with the Secretary of State.

State rules

Who can serve, the address rule and whether the LLC itself can be named are from each state’s code and Secretary of State forms, checked October 2026 and recorded in our fact sheets with the statute cited on each state page. We do not give legal advice.

Fees

The fee to change a registered agent is from the state’s form or fee schedule, checked October 2026.
